Yearly Archives:

Welcome to day four, and the final day, of my tour. Time to take the tour outside to show off the lights my fabulous husband froze to put up!

Here is our house on Fort Eustis. We put some white icicle lights on the roof. Also, this year I mixed some red and green strands together and some red and white strands together for the trees and the pole on the porch. I outlined the kitchen and living room windows on the inside with multi-colored lights. Then we put more multi-colored lights on the bushes. We did a little more than we did last year and I am happy that we did.

My Christmas garden flag, a good, old reindeer.

Here is the wreath on my front door. I made this a few years ago. I think next year it is going to need some touching up. It’s been trough a couple moves and so some of its items are starting to fall out. But it still does the trick!

Well that’s it for my tour! I hope that you enjoyed a glimpse inside our home for the holidays. Hope you liked what you saw and maybe got an idea or two!

Happy Holidays to everyone! And here’s to a Happy, Healthy 2010!

Oh Christmas Tree!

Welcome to Day Three of my Tour. Today isn’t much of a tour of my home as it is more of my Christmas Tree. I wanted to share some of my favorite ornaments on my tree.

This is just a view of my tree lit up at night.

Here is our tree during the day. I wrapped it in two different silver ribbons this year to go with my new silver tree topper. I am pretty happy at how my tree turned out this year. I remember changing it about this time last year!

This is my newest ornament this year. My family always exchanged ornaments and this was from my mom for this year. She gave it to me early while I was in TN so I could go ahead and put it on my tree.

I love this ornament. It is actually a bright pink with different brightly colored dots on it. I couldn’t get a real good picture of it so you could tell the true color. I just really like this one because it is very different than most I have on my tree.

This was the ornament from my mom last year. Love it because it is so whimsical! There is actually another tree on the other side of the ornament as well. So cute!

What’s a tree without any Santa ornaments?! Here is one of my favorite ones.

This ornament is from my sister a few years ago. It is actually made out of blown glass. So pretty and SUPER heavy! I am always nervous when I put this one on the tree!

Here is another ornament that is very different than the rest on my tree. It is so simple but so pretty!

If you can’t tell my now, I love glass ornaments with glitter! 🙂

This ornament was from my mom to symbolize our wedding. We got married in January and our colors were brown, aqua, and chartreuse green. It is hard to tell in this picture but it is the chartreuse color and of course the snowflake would be for the January winter!

And lastly, who doesn’t love a little touch of the great outdoors on their tree?! Last year, I decided to take advantage of the HUNDREDS of pine cones that were in our backyard and glittered some for decorations around the house. Some are on the tree, some on the dining table centerpiece, and the rest in the light decoration above the dining room table. (You would never know we only have one pine tree in our backyard! It is so large and so old that it produces enough you would think you were in the woods!!)

But here are two pictures of my pinecones.

That concludes the tree tour for today! Tomorrow, I will be heading outside to show off our house decorations. Stay tuned! 🙂

Spread the Joy and Cheer

Here is part two of my Tour. This tour is focusing on my living room area. There are a ton of pictures.

Here is our Christmas tree all lit up. I am very happy at how my tree turned out this year.

Tree all lit up with the window lights in the background.

This is the tree during the day.

And the stockings were hung by above the tv with care! haha. So we don’t have a fireplace and our whole house is open concept with every exterior wall, ALL windows so this is the only place that we can hang our stocking. But it looks pretty good still!

A closer view of the garland all decorated.

All lit up at night but this was before it was decorated. It just needed that little extra touch.

The decorations on the entertainment center.

My little grouping of trees with an Angel.

Glittered Noel under the tv.

What’s Christmas without a reindeer?!

My little shelf in the corner of the living room.

Top shelf: Glittered candles, snowman, and vase with ornaments and glittered sticks.

Up close of the vase.

Second shelf: My stuff snowman Travis brought home from WY for me (I had a cute Santa to go with him but when Oscar was a puppy, he decided to make him a chew toy and chew up his face.) And a Moose.
Notice they are high on the shelf- Oscar would STILL like to make them a chew toy! haha

Third shelf: Santa with my great-aunt’s kissing angels. I LOVE my angels! 🙂

Bottom shelf: The Snowmen shelf. Newest addition to the house this year, the big snowman. In the frame is an old card I received a few years ago. Thought it would be perfect framed and out during Christmas!

Last year I had this idea. I wanted to make some of the pillows on the couch look like presents. So I went out, bought white pillow cases and took some extra ribbon I had to tie like ribbon on a package. They aren’t perfect but I like it and it just adds a little something to the furniture!

Up close of the pillows.

So this is the only Nativity set that I have. It is super little and I have it on one of my end tables in the living room but at least I have one! I really like it though and I hope to have a large set one day!

Snowman candle holder on the other end table.

The little tin basket that sits by the front door and where all the Christmas cards go that we receive.
Wire, glittered, Christmas tree by the front door. It gets glitter everywhere but it sure is pretty! This picture doesn’t do it justice!

And last, star made out of grapevine that hangs next to the front door. Totally excited about this thing- bought it at Big Lots last year! 🙂

Well, that ends the tour of the living room area! I will add another post tomorrow of my Christmas tree and some of my favorite ornaments. And than my tour will conclude with the outdoor decorations! Stay tuned!!

Christmas Time Is Here!

So a friend of mine and a fellow blogger turned me onto the idea of doing a “Tour of Homes” for the holiday season. After viewing someone’s tour from last year and the beginning of her tour, I have decided to follow suit and begin one of my own. So here is my “Tour of Homes.” It will take me a few posts to show all the pictures but here is the start. The pictures below are of my kitchen and dining room.

Have to have the holiday towel in the kitchen!

My new salt and pepper shakers.

I saw an idea that was something like this on a television show last year and knew I wanted to try it. So I went out and bought two different sized wreaths, berries, and ornaments and went to town. Love the way it turned and it just adds a little something to a place that you normally don’t think to decorate!

View of the top of the wreaths on the light.

Here is a view of my dining table and the light.

My centerpiece on my dining table. The green is actually an old garland that I was going to throw away and as I rolled it up I realized it would work perfectly on my table with my candles! So I threw in some extra berries I had laying around and some glittered pine cones.

My Christmas Village in my hutch.

My two mini trees that I have in my dining room. The ornaments are some that Travis and I made together when we were dating. They are just the clear ornaments that we put paint inside. I put some white tulle under them to look like snow. It has become one of Patton’s favorite spots. The only bad part is when he is hyper he likes to slide through it so he always keeps me fixing it!

Patton laying in the tulle.

All lite up.

That ends the tour for now. I will be adding more tomorrow of all my living room decorations. So STAY TUNED!! 🙂

Oh My! Time FLIES!!

I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by! It does not seem like it is suppose to be December already and that the new year is right around the corner! Travis has been home a little over a year now but it doesn’t feel like that. Guess that is a good thing though! We will have a busy holiday season so the last few weeks of this year will be crazy and because of that will go by even faster. It will be nice seeing friends and family back home though.

Seeing that the new year is right around the corner I guess that means I need to start thinking about if I am going to make a resolution or just things that I would like to do in 2010. There was just one thing that eluded me this year so we’ll see if it can be accomplished next year. I do hope that I will be able to dedicate more time to my Etsy business. I have many ideas for projects that never got completed so I hope to produce them this year and make my business more of a success. But, I could probably type all day about things I would like to do in the new year but I won’t go on.

So I will end on this note. I hope that everyone has a very Happy Holiday Season and a happy, healthy New Year to come!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope that everyone has had a fabulous Thanksgiving. We have a lot to be thankful for this year. I am so happy that we were able to spend another Thanksgiving together this year with Travis being home. I’m thankful for all our new friends we have met and of course our old friends. I am thankful for our families. I am thankful for our two “boys” that entertain us- our dog, Oscar, and our cat, Patton. I am thankful for whatever our future holds and the joys of finding out what that future is.
I hope that everyone else has had a year full of joys that you can be thankful for.
We didn’t do much today for Thanksgiving. Travis’s parents are coming to visit us but couldn’t be here until this weekend so Thanksgiving dinner is going to be on Sunday. Some of our fabulous neighbors did invite us over to eat dinner with them. So our day consisted of watching football, I decorated for Christmas, and hanging out with good friends. Pretty good day after all.

Fall Photo Session

We got some fall pictures taken today. We just went around Fort Eustis seeing where would be a great place to take pictures. We had one of our neighbors take them for us and they turned out pretty well seeing that none of us are photographers! Below are some of my favorites from the day.

The Nor’Easter

A Nor’Easter came through this week. It was rain, rain, and more rain for 3 days straight! And gusts of wind that were pretty scary! These are pictures of our front and backyard covered in leaves and flooded. Notice all the puddles! It was aweful! But we can now say we have been through our first Nor’Easter!
