We’ve been preparing for a garage sale this weekend and with our move only a little over a week away, I have just been super busy! And unfortunately, it won’t get better any time soon. Hopefully by the end of May I will do better!

Latest Thrift Finds

Travis and I had a thrifting shopping day about a month and a half ago and I realized that I never shared our finds with you yet.
At this point, I really don’t remember all the prices that we paid for everything, but I will do my best.

Of course we stopped at our favorite place, Tickled Pink and then also stopped at another great store, The Dixie Trading Post.

Here’s are finds:

First up: Travis found this steamer trunk for $15 at Tickled Pink. He debated about it for a few minutes but in the end, it came home with us.

Here’s a shot of the inside and the paper that lines the trunk.

I found this frame and loved it. Not sure yet if it will go on my frame collage wall (when I finally do that) but it will find a home somewhere!

Up-close shot of the frame.

Travis found this brand new Stetson hat for $35 (which is an awesome find since these hates are like $200) and just had to have it. He actually bought it for his mom because his family has horses and mules so she ended up buying it off of us.

I found these fun little plates and cups and debated over them. I showed Travis and he thought they were cool. I decided that I wouldn’t get them but Travis decided that we should, so home with us they came. There are 4 of them total and I think they were only $5.

The last purchase from Tickled Pink was this little plate. It was only a few dollars and not sure why I had to have it. I just loved the colors and have been wanting to do a plate wall in my dining room so I guess this was a jumping off point.

We then headed to Dixie Trading Post and I found this cheese dome for $5. I had other plans for it and just yesterday it had it’s make over. I’ll be sure to share what it looks like now soon. It didn’t change too much but it looks great!

Then we came across all these silver plates and both loved them. I thought they would look great on my plate wall and we both really like them as is. They all ranged in price but we decided to jump right in and get them all, even if some were a little more than I probably would have spent.

Loved the details in this one. So pretty!

Super small plate, which actually I think is a coaster.

Another small plate/coaster.

Loved the shape and designs in this one as well.

Large round plate with simple but elegant details.

And last purchase was this plate with great cut outs as well.

We came home with quite a bit that day.
Hopefully after our move, I will be able to show you all them in use.

Have you found anything fun lately?

Catch a Glimpse Button

Here’s a tutorial to learn how to make your own.

Rosette Easter Basket

I shared this tutorial over at The Scrap Shoppe this weekend and TOTALLY FORGOT to let you all know that I would be over there! Forgive me! So I wanted to share it here as well for all of you just in case you still want a cute Easter basket idea.

Rosette Embellished Easter Basket

Here’s the how-to:

-Easter basket (I bought a small felt one from Michael’s)
-Colorful felt
-Glue gun
First, make all the rosettes.

Cut a square out of felt, any size you like.
The bigger the square the bigger the flower and vice versa.

Then, turn the square into a circle. You can do wavy edges or just plain.

Then, cut a spiral in the circle.

Start at the end and roll the felt toward the center.

Roll until you get to the center and you should have a little flap of felt left over.

Place glue in the center and fold over the flap. This will hold the flower together.

All done!

Now repeat MANY times! lol
I think I made 70 larger rosettes with then an additional 30 smaller rosettes.
Your number will vary depending on the size of your flowers and how close you glue them together.

Now onto embellishing the basket.

I took some white ruffly ribbon and hot glued it to the handle.

Then, I took some eyelet ribbon and hot glued it to the inside rim of the basket.

Time to glue on the rosettes.
Start at the bottom and work your way around.
I did a dry fit to figure out my pattern and how many I would need to circle the basket.
Then just place hot glue on each rose and attach.

Work your way up the basket.

Add each flower until the whole basket is covered.
When I neared the top, I glued the smaller rosettes so you could still see the little green scallops.

Up close of the ribbon handle and the eyelet ribbon.

I love the little flowers and added details on this ribbon.

You don’t have to cover the whole thing in flowers if you want.
You could always just do a row or two near the top. The possibilities are endless!

Fill it up with treats to enjoy or some colorful Easter eggs!

I’ll be linking up to some of these parties.

Fun Goodies!

Before I start this post, I just wanted to say THANK YOU to all of you who commented on and emailed me about my Something I Want post.
I really appreciate all your prayers and kind words and I felt very loved.
I really hope that I will be able to share some good news with all of you sooner rather than later!

Ok… onto the fun stuff!

I told you in my Creative Estates Recap post that I would write a post for all the fun swag I received and what I won.

Here’s a shot of all the business cards I collected while there.
I know I could have received MANY more. There were some people I just forgot to ask for their card and many others that I didn’t get to meet.

Here’s an up close shot of the fabulous necklace from The Vintage Pearl.
I LOVE IT and is my favorite!

Here’s the Swag from the GNO dinner.
-More Mod Podge and DecoArt paint
-Cute flower earrings from Lil Luna
-Cute yellow flower hair clip from Funky Polka Dot Giraffe

-Stencil from Plaid
-Little vinyl sign from Two Chicks and a Vinyl Cutter
-Cute ribbon from The Ribbon Retreat
-Plus a couple coupons and coupon codes

Now I mentioned before I was lucky enough to win not one, not two, but THREE giveaways the whole weekend.

Here’s what I won.
Thursday night at the Cupcake and Cocktail social I won this fabulous headband with interchangeable flowers from Two Lilies Boutique.

Then Friday morning at the Conference I won this camera strap cover from SheyB.

And the BIGGEST Mama-Jama win of the weekend was this Bad Boy!!

OH YEAH!! That’s totally a Silhouette machine!!! 🙂

I was pretty darn excited but boy was it a pain to get home on the plane. I had numerous notes in my luggage letting me know they opened it up to see what was inside. And I don’t blame them since this probably looked like a bomb to them on the x-ray! lol

I haven’t had time to play with it yet, (I know what you’re thinking! I’ll get to it soon.) but as soon as I do, I’ll let you all know how it is.

It was so fun to go and apparently I had a lucky weekend!
I highly suggest going to a blog Conference at some point!

Be back this evening with a fun Easter basket tutorial.

Something that I want…

I don’t normally share about sad or SUPER personal things, but today I just felt the need to let this out there.

For the past 2 1/2 years, Travis and I have wanted something very badly.
We never thought that it would take this long in order to get what we want.
We have prayed about it, cried about it, and yet we still yearn for it.

That something is this:

We have been unable to get pregnant, not even once, and it is killing me.
I am trying to stay strong, act like it’s all ok, go to the doctor again and again, trying not to get my hopes up that something will finally happen but as the hours, days, weeks, months, and now years go by, I am struggling to stay strong.

I feel like EVERY person I know, IRL and blogging world, is pregnant, some more than once during this time period, and I just want to scream, ok, I have screamed a few times, and I am so tired of putting on the fake smile, acting like I am excited for them, and telling them Congrats.
I know I should be happy for them. I know I am jealous of them. And right now, I feel like I have the right to be upset.
I have cried, hysterical boo-hoo’s at that, multiple times, when I find out someone is pregnant or the visitor comes that I don’t want to see. I just want to crawl into bed and pull the covers over my head and not come out. But again, trying to stay strong, I go on.

We’ve been to the doctor, both of us, I’ve done the whole Clomid thing and nothing. We were just getting ready to go to the next step and find out if we needed to do IUI (artificial insemination) when stuff with the doctor got ALL MESSED UP (trust me, that was NOT a good day) so that has now been postponed until after we move. Now, we have to find a new doctor when we get to VA and I hope that we can quickly jump into everything and find a way to have the baby that we want so bad.

I have prayed about this and well, had some interesting conversations with Him, some not so nice depending on the time of month. I have even had the thoughts of “I’ll even take a miscarriage.” Now, I know those of you out there that have had one probably think I’m nuts and I in no way want one or wish that anyone would have to go through one, but I say that for the fact that I would at least know it is possible for me to get pregnant.

I have always said, that I would adopt at some point but I always thought I would do it after I had my own kids. But maybe we are suppose to do that first. I just really want to experience everything that goes along with a pregnancy, the good and the bad.
I watch the news and hear all these stories about people abusing, selling, and killing their kids and it makes me angry and I always think to myself, “Why did You give these people a child when they clearly didn’t want them and we want one so badly and yet can’t have one?”

I know people try to help by giving advice or words of wisdom but at this time in the process the next person that tells me “You have time or All in God’s time.” or “It will happen.” or “Have you tried this?” will get punched in the face.
Seriously, do you really think we haven’t tried all the possible ways we’ve read to get pregnant besides the drastic medical ways?
How in the world do you REALLY know it will happen? That’s right… you don’t! It may never happen.
And sure, we’re only 27, plenty of time but when you factor in that Travis is an active duty Army officer, No, we don’t have all the time in the world.
The past 2 1/2 years would have been awesome for a little one to come into the world. Travis came home from deployment so we knew we had at least a year before he would be put back on the list. And we’ve been lucky enough for 2 1/2 years, minus Haiti, of him being home. I know there is a HUGE chance that after his Captain’s Course, he will get a unit that will be deploying. And I’m sorry if I want him to watch his baby grow up that first year since they change so much and I want to see him be the awesome dad I know he will be. So much can happen being a military family, so again, no- we don’t have time and I am surely losing my patience.
I know everyone just means well but I really don’t want to hear any of it anymore.

Ok… I’ve cried enough while typing this and I am pretty sure you all are tired about reading my random ramblings, so I will stop there.
I know I am not the first person that has had trouble trying to conceive so I am not looking for sympathy or anything of the like but I just needed to get all this off my chest (maybe because I know Aunt Flo is coming to visit soon) for my own sanity.

But I will ask this: Will you please say a little prayer for us?
We can use all the help that we can get.

I promise to be more upbeat the rest of the week!
