Celebrating Baby M

Two weeks ago now, I flew home to TN for a baby shower celebrating Baby M.
It was at my parent’s house and my mom and sister were the hostesses and they did a fabulous job making and putting everything together.

My mom, me, and my sister

Here I am before the shower ready for the guests to arrive.

Now let’s dive into all the fun stuff, the party details!

The guests were greeted at the front door with this cute decor mesh wreath my sister made.
Can you tell the color scheme?!

-Pretty Pink tulips were also on the porch getting everyone in the baby girl spirit.
-The mantle was all decorated and ready for the party.
-My mom made this large pom-pom flower that was perfect on the mantle.
-And my sister ordered two small diaper cakes with anchors on them (my sorority symbol), and those were on each end.

-For the party favors, my parents (yes, my dad helped out!) made these adorable jars of “White Trash” mix. Topped them with mini pom-poms and a ribbon and they fit right in.
-3D ultrasound pics of Baby M were also on display on the mantle since the party is all for her anyways.
-Here is a shot of the room from one corner. Wish I got a shot with the flowers on the tables. OOPS!
-And over the food table, hung some fabulous pom-poms made by my parents.

-My mother-in-law created all the adorable flower centerpieces. She made them look like an ice cream sundae.
-Inside the flowers were little picks with an image of an ice cream sundae on one side, and a message on the other.
-And then my mom made this fabulous tulle tu-tu skirt for the gift table.

-My sister bought this “It’s a Girl” banner from an etsy shop and it was hung along the mantle.
-The water bottles were wrapped in this cute label showing off Baby M’s name.
-Candy bar also had to be in the pink, white, and black color scheme.
-And then on a table they laid out small cards where guests wrote wishes to Baby M, addressed envelopes to help with my Thank You notes, and also had a notebook out where guests wrote words of advice to me.

My mother-in-law also made this cute flower bouquet out of baby socks, hats, and hair bows!
Too cute!

Time for some gifts!
Baby M got a lot of fabulous goodies!
-A couple blankets, one quilted by my best friend’s mom, some more made by Travis’ aunt, and she also got a pink crocheted blanket from my parent’s neighbor.
-Of course, adorable clothes were given.
-And lots of other fun stuff!

It was so fabulous seeing all my friends and family again!

It’s been far too long!

It was a fabulous shower celebrating Baby M and it got me even more excited for her arrival!!

Special thanks to my mom and sister for all their hard work and to my mother-in-law for the gorgeous flower arrangements! Love you guys!!

Nursery Project #2: Fabric Bird Mobile Tutorial

I used this as my submission into Round 3 of Creative Bloggers Got Talent competition and I made it into the Top 10 with it. 🙂

I wanted something fun and whimsical for a mobile for Baby M and since we aren’t buying a bedding set and making our own, I knew I would be making it. So here is what I came up with:

And after she gets to old for a mobile, it can stay as a cute decoration in another place in the room! PERFECT! 🙂

Happy Hour Projects linked up her little bird stuffies to a Catch a Glimpse Party back at the beginning of the year and as soon as I saw them, I got the idea to make some for a mobile!
So once I finally decided on the fabric theme, I used all the samples I had to get to work.

Here’s how you can make one too:

Supplies:
-Fabric
-Poly-fill
-Sewing Machine
-Tree branch
-Elastic
-Fishing wire
-Eye Hook

How-to:
Start by creating a template for your birds.
I had to make mine smaller than Adrianne did since mine were for a mobile.
I used my cricut to cut out my birds, (hence the random letter in the center of the bird… just ignore that!), and made one 6″, one 5″, and one 3″, for a little bird family.
The green cutouts are for the belly that I just free handed.

Trace each template on the corresponding fabrics and then cut them out.
I also decided to add wings for more details.
Make sure you cut a bird facing in each direction!

First, I applied the wings the applique stitch on all the bird bodies.
(I know it mine looks rough… first time trying that!)

Then, pin the belly onto one side of the body, with the right sides of the fabrics facing each other.

Sew the belly onto the body.

Then, line up the second body piece to what you just sewed and pin the belly piece down.
Sew along the belly.
After the belly piece is all attached, sew along the outside of the body of the bird making sure to leave a gap to turn right sides out and fill.

Sew and stuff all 3 birds.

Time to hand stitch the hole closed.

I used clear thread to do this job so it wouldn’t be too noticeable.

To attach the birds to the branch, I cut an elastic hair tie and hot glued it to the bottom center of the bird. You could use regular elastic as well and sew it in but this works just fine and the hair band blends in with the brown of the branch. Plus, it kinda looks like the birds legs!

Go outside and cut a branch that you like and then just place the birds on the branch where ever you like best.
I place a small amount of hot glue on the branch as well to keep the birds sturdy.

Travis used fishing wire to tie to the branch so it is invisible when it is hanging and then tied the fishing wire to an eye hook he put in the ceiling above the crib.
This way, we can just tap it and it will spin freely.

We hung it over one end of the crib so Baby M can admire it.

I love my little bird family mobile and hope that Baby M will enjoy staring at it for years to come!

Linking up to some of these parties.

Baby M Update: Week 29

Big belly at 29 weeks!
Our sweet baby girl giving us a grin at our 3D/4D Ultrasound on Tuesday afternoon.
She is so FREAKING cute if I do say so myself! 😉

How far along? 29 weeks
Total weight gain: I have gained 10 lbs. since reaching my pre-pregnancy weight again.
Maternity clothes? Here lately, I’ve been wearing a good amount of maternity clothes because we have been really busy and I’ve been traveling so I just wanted to be the most comfortable.
Stretch marks?
nope 🙂 And I’m thrilled!
Sleep: Not too terrible but not too great either.
Best moment this week: Having a 3D/4D ultrasound last week and seeing Baby M’s beautiful face and trying to figure out whose features she has! 🙂 Also, I flew to TN on Thursday and had my baby shower this weekend so it was so nice seeing family and friends and celebrating Baby M.
Miss Anything? I’m going back to- being pain free!
Movement: Big time! She’s a mover and a shaker!
Food cravings: I didn’t crave anything this week.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Well… nothing food wise or the like but I tried to end my Zofran again now that I am in the 3rd trimester and apparently I will have to take these darn pills until the end. 🙁
Gender: GIRL!!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button (in or out): Still in and really hasn’t pushed out much more but I am sure by the end, it will finally pop!
Wedding Rings (on or off): On
Symptoms: Back pain and unfortunately I now have round ligament pain going on. So if I don’t hurt in the back, I hurt in the front and bad! This ligament pain is NO fun!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy
Looking forward to: Heading home on Tuesday to be with Travis again before he deploys at the end of the month.
