Miss P: Newborn to 1 Month

I guess I better start sharing some pictures of P before she gets any older and I get any more behind! She just turned 2 mths old on Tuesday, which is crazy, so it is definitely time.
Here are some pictures of my little cutie spanning from newborn to about 1 month old.
Here are a bunch of pictures from our few day hospital stay.
Most of the pictures are right after delivery and a few are from the days following when we are both a little (very little) more rested.

A day or two after we got home, we were able to Skype with Travis for the first time so he could “meet” his little girl.
The first picture was the first day we Skyped. He could see us but we couldn’t see him so the second picture is from the next day where we could actually see him.
P was about a week and half days old when we got her newborn pictures taken.
Had to get some girlie shots of her and then we took one of Travis’ uniform jackets to use for pictures since he couldn’t be here with us for pictures.
P was well loved while my parents were here. They stayed for 2 1/2 weeks after she was born then we were on our own.
She lounged a little.
Slept a little.
Played a little.
Sent messages to daddy for Father’s Day.
And a lot of the times, was (and still is) a bright eyed, happy baby.
While she was sleeping one day, I just couldn’t resist getting some up close shots of her adorable, tiny body parts!

I’ll be back next week with some pictures of P from 1 to 2 mths.

Guest Post: Christy from Christy’s Cuties

Hi Everyone!  My name is Christy, and I blog over on Christy’s Cuties.

I am so excited to be here on A Glimpse Inside today!  Allison’s blog was one of the first that I found when I began blogging, and I immediately felt a connection with her because I am a Miliary wife as well.

I want to show you the master bath redo I just finished, for under $45.  We have lived in this house for 5 years now, and this room is the only one that has not been touched in any form until now.

Here is the before….

I really wish I remembered to take before, before pictures. There was an awful boarder up around the top of the walls as well. I know you all are sad you didn’t get to see that beautiful boarder, maybe next time.  The hardware on the cabinets were old and gold.  The fixtures in the room were old and gold.  Stock cabinets. And mustard yellow on the walls.  It was old and out dated.  Which meant it had to go.
When I decided it was time to get started, I emailed my bloggy buddy Maury over at Life on Mars.  If you haven’t seen her blog, please check it out.  Maury has such an eye for colors and room re-do’s.  She’s amazing!  After asking a few questions, I told Maury the colors I was looking at painting and asked her opinion.  She got back to me almost immediately and sent me some awesome color ideas!
Being in the Military we do not really know when our time here is up, so I knew I didn’t want to put a whole lot of money into the bathroom since we may be leaving next year.  Knowing this I decided to just paint everything I could, and that’s what I did.

I couldn’t be happier with the colors that I chose.  The cabinets took less than a quart of paint, and that includes the outside and inside of the cabinets.  I used Satin for both the walls and cabinets.
The walls are Olympic paint, but I used a Glidden color of Deepest Aqua
The cabinets are Olympic paint, but I used a Glidden color of Peacock Blue
Since I didn’t want to buy new hardware, I just spray painted everything with Krylon Metallic.  It went on perfectly, and is holding up beautifully.

I found these three wood square shelves at Goodwill for $6.99 and thought they would be perfect to get our perfume and cologne off of the counter.  They fit perfectly!  The basket on the counter holds my blow dryer, curling iron, and straightener.  I like it accessible, but hate having the cords laying all over the counters.  This works great.

I already had the shower curtain.  It was purchased a few years ago at Linens N Things.
]
I also already had all of the wall decor, curtain, and rugs that you see as well.  I just shopped my home.  It’s amazing what you can find in other areas of your home that will work better in another room.
Here is another angle of the shelving.

Since I didn’t want to put money into the fixtures I used a metallic paint from the Americana line at Hobby Lobby.  I used this on my lights, towel wall rack, and toilet paper holder.  It took three coats each, but looks good as new.  For such a cheap fix, they look great.  I couldn’t be happier with my decision to do that, rather than spend money to replace them.
Here is the cost breakdown:
Wall paint: $22
Cabinet paint:$12
Goodwill Shelves: $6.99
Krylon Spray Paint $3.29
Total: $44.28
I hope you all like it as much as I do.  I hope the husband likes it, too.  He isn’t home from his trip yet, and had no idea I was going to do this.  HA!
I’m social!  You can keep in touch with me on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and even Instagram under Christy’s Cuties if you would like.  And of course I would love for you to stop by Christy’s Cuties and look around, if you get a minute.
Thanks so much for having me, Allison!  I have had a great time.
Thanks so much for sharing Christy! It looks great!!

Pregnancy Confessions

I have a confession to make about being pregnant.
I did NOT enjoy it!
It always amazes me when a woman says “I LOVE(D) being pregnant!” and if you are one of these women, more power to you!
After waiting almost 3 years to finally see that word “pregnant” on a
test, I had high hopes that the next 40 weeks would be one of the best
experiences of my life. It was and it wasn’t. There were a few things that I did enjoy about being pregnant but for the most part, it wasn’t the “best” experience for me.
Here are some reasons why I didn’t enjoy it:
1. My INSANELY HORRIBLE morning, afternoon, and night sickness my first trimester that also stuck around my whole pregnancy. Not being able to eat anything and throwing up what little I did manage to get down was not fun.
2. The constant pain I was in starting at week 10, whether it be my back, my round ligament pain, sciatic nerve, popping a rib out of place- you name it, I had it and didn’t enjoy it.
3. Not sleeping well and struggling to just roll over off of one painful hip to the other. I know everyone doesn’t sleep great while they are pregnant, but I am one woman that LOVES her sleep! lol

4. This one may sound strange but I actually did not enjoy when I was finally able to feel P move. It did not feel like little butterflies like everyone said it would. It almost felt like a burning sensation for me and it was not enjoyable! I was thankful when that stage was over and I was really able to feel her kick, punch, and roll.

5. I am a HUGE neck and back popper! It grosses other people out but I don’t care because it feels SOOO GOOD! As my pregnancy went on, my back was so stiff and I knew that one good pop would fix it and it just wouldn’t happen. Not fun!
Again, I did enjoy some things about pregnancy though.
1. Of course I enjoyed the thought of growing that little bean and seeing her on the ultrasounds.
2. Feeling those kicks, punches, hiccups, and rolls and knowing that things are going well.
3. Hearing that heartbeat for the first time and all those many times after.
4. My face was the clearest it has been since, shoot, I can’t remember when my face was that clear last! lol
5. My legs hair grew SOOO slow and it was fabulous since I rarely had to shave and that was so nice when that belly got so large that it was hard to bend over to shave! lol
Obviously, I LOVE what I got in the end of this pregnancy.
It was definitely all worth it but I just pray that if and when pregnancy #2 occurs, that it will go better than this one and I will enjoy it a little more.
I hope I’m not the only one that didn’t enjoy being pregnant!
Please, tell me I’m not alone!
