Holiday Open House Party; Week 1

Welcome to Week 1 of my Holiday Open House party!
Today is the time to share your house decor.
You can share your living room, dining room, kitchen, etc. decorations.
Here are my decorations!
I’ll start with my entry way.
I placed my wooden snowflake on my mirror and then put the little metal box on my table.
I love to hang an item in front of a mirror for a little something extra.
And I use this box to collect all the Christmas cards we receive in the mail.
In our front window, I placed our Christmas tree.

Moving to the right of the tree is a curio cabinet. I only decorate the top of it and the top open shelf.
The two pictures in the frames were actually Christmas cards I received at one time.
Next to the curio cabinet, I hung my Christmas Subway art.
To the left of the tree are my shutters all decked out plus my new console table.
Since we don’t have a fireplace, I always hang our stockings on our shutters and I always love how it looks.
Add some garland, a wreath, and now some figurines to the table and that area is done.
Here is how I decorated my dining room table.
I saw an idea like this in Pottery Barn a few years ago so this is how I have decorated my table the past few years.
The greenery is an old garland I don’t use anymore. Throw in some glittered pine cones and berries and you are good to go!
I wrapped my banister in a thin garland and some berry garland.
In the family room area, I placed two small trees and decorated them with ornaments Travis and I made.
I placed some figurines on the entertainment center but left it pretty simple.
Up close of items:
A fun silver Reindeer.
Noel glittered metal sign.
And a little snowman with some trees.
On our bar, I just placed this silver Tinsel tree with a little snowman candle holder.
Under the island, I placed this little decorated tree.
And placed another one on top of the island!
Here is my stove area.
I placed the Embroidery Hoop Ornaments on the little ledge of the stove hood.
Then I put some items in the window area above my stove.
My cute little salt and pepper shaker.
Then I created the NOEL sign and the 25 sign at a Pinterest party I threw.
Now it is time for you to share your decorations!!

RULES:

1.) Link up to a specific post not your blog in general.

2.) Your post must be of your Holiday Decorations not of a tutorial. (tutorials will be shared in a separate week.)

3.) Stop and visit a couple links to get new ideas!

4.) HAVE FUN!!!

Miss P’s 5 Month Adventures

My baby girl just turned 6 mths old.
HOLY COW!!
Where has the time gone?!
I can’t believe it!
Month 5 sure was a fun one though!
Here is a little recap of her adventures.
Just like every other month, we had to have our little photo shoot on her 5 month birthday.
P finally had a taste of solid food.
Rice cereal and Oatmeal are a staple in our house now and she LOVES both!
She NEVER made a funny face at all when she tried either and she makes the cutest “Mmmmm” noise right before she takes every bite of food.

Halloween was the first holiday where she was big enough to some what enjoy it.
She sure looked cute in her Halloween outfit the day of Halloween.
She dressed up as a Ballerina for Halloween.
She sure was cute but she sure didn’t enjoy the night.
I think it was too chilly for her and she cried FOREVER! lol
She still a super happy girl and loves to play.
And plays until she just can’t play anymore!
Sitting up all by herself is a super fun thing now!
She chills on the floor and plays and she loves it.
I will admit, I do too so I can get some things done. πŸ™‚
Gramps and Gammi came back out to visit for Thanksgiving.
She had to help out her Gramps with a game he was playing.
Sitting and reading is a pretty cool thing.
Lots of fun things happened this month.
-She sat in a shopping cart for the first time.
-She was a super silly girl playing.
-She had a fun time waking up one morning and rolling and playing in her crib.
-She wished Happy Birthday to her daddy.
-She enjoyed her new Halloween toy from her Aunt Rissa.
-Celebrated Thanksgiving.
-Enjoyed a bottle while watching some football.
And to round out the month, she got to celebrate her first Thanksgiving and sure looked cute while doing it. πŸ™‚ I love her little “over the shoulder” model pose.
Month 5 sure was fun and she has develop quite the personality.
I know month 6 will be just as fun and memorable!
Especially since she gets to meet her daddy this month and have her first Christmas.
Definitely fun times ahead!

Oh, the Eye Candy!

Tons and tons of eye candy!
Have you picked up your issue of PEOPLE Magazine’s Annual Sexiest Man Alive issue?
You sure need to run out and buy a copy if you haven’t!
Why, hello Mr. Tatum!
Like I stated in the beginning and in the title, it is chopped full of eye candy!
I wasn’t too positive who they would pick as Sexiest Man Alive and when I first heard it was Channing I thought, “Really?,” but after looking at the magazine I think he was a good choice.

I went and picked up a copy over the weekend at my local Kroger brand store.
It took me a minute to find it since it was hiding from me.
Finally, I noticed Mr. Channing eyeing me from behind a special Twilight issue of PEOPLE Magazine
I picked it up and while P was taking a nap, I sat down to enjoy the new issue and read all about the men included this year plus all my other favorite articles.
I LOVE the Star Tracks pictures. Seeing all the stars out and going about their business trying to do normal things. Well as normal as one can do things with a ton of photographers following them.
I was pretty excited when I got to all the eye candy.
Hi Bradley! Congrats on getting married Justin! How are you Marky Mark? Patrick, I think I need some medical attention. πŸ˜‰

Near the back of the magazine is the Second Look Article.
I always enjoy a good puzzle so this is one of my favorite things to do. I like to see how fast I can find all 10 changes. Normally, I can accomplish it quickly without looking at the answers but some times there is that one change I just can’t find so I have to check them out.
So, if you haven’t picked up your issue of PEOPLE Magazine’s Annual Sexiest Man Alive issue run out and get it before it is too late.

Christmas Tree Hurricane Vase

Time to start pulling out all of your holiday decorations. Crazy!
This year has flown by but I am definitely ready for some holiday cheer!
I decided to get into the holiday spirit by creating a Christmas Tree Hurricane Vase with the help of Mod Podge
I love Mod Podge! It can be used to create so many different things on so many types of materials.

This was my first attempt at using Mod Podge on glass but this was a fairly simple project. It just needed ample time for things to dry since I was working on glass.
Here is how I created it:
 Supplies:
-Glass Hurricane Vase
-Scrapbook Paper
-Cutting Machine of some sorts
-Super Gloss Mod Podge
-Matte Mod Podge
– Mod Podge Roller Applicator
-Mod Podge Dimensional Magic, Silver Glitter
-Mod Podge Dimensional Magic, Gold Glitter
-Folk Art Silver Glitter Paint (optional)
-Epsom Salt or Kosher Salt

To start, cut out the design you want to apply to your hurricane vase.
I chose to cut out some Christmas trees using my Cricut Machine in a few different sizes.
After making sure your vase was nice and clean, apply some Super Gloss Mod Podge to the outside of the vase. I used the roller applicator to apply the Mod Podge.
I applied the Mod Podge in small sections at a time and then applied one of the trees.
I rubbed the tree with my finger to ensure that it all stuck down without any bubbles.
TIP: When applying the Mod Podge, try not to overlap the already applied and drying Mod Podge to much or too many times. It will rub off the Mod Podge that is starting to dry.
Continue adding your cut outs all the way around your hurricane. Give trees a coat of Mod Podge to seal.
Even with the Mod Podge being Super Gloss, it will still make your vase a little foggy looking. I like that it isn’t super clear though because it diffuses the candlelight.
Once my trees were relatively dry, I used the Matte Mod Podge and applied it at the bottom of the vase and up over the trunk of the trees. I sprinkled some Kosher Salt onto the glue so it looked like snow.
Shake off excess salt and set aside to dry.
I used the Dimensional Magic on the trees to make it look like snow. Do not apply to much otherwise it will drip or place it on it’s side while it dries.
I also added a gold star to a few of the trees for a little more flair. Again, don’t apply it too thick.
I also applied the Silver Dimensional Magic onto the glass here and there to look like snow falling.
Just add a candle once everything is dry.
Note: Mod Podge on glass can take months to FULLY cure. So once it is complete, place it where you want it and don’t mess with it.
It looks great when the candle is lite.
Can’t wait to put it out along with all my other holiday decorations.
