1st Birthday Stat Display Board

I have another tutorial on one of the items that I created for Miss P’s first birthday.
It is so easy to create, so easy I only have a few pictures for this post!
I wanted to share some fun facts with the guest about Miss P so I made a Stat Board and displayed it on our mantle.
Here’s a quick how to:

Supplies:
-Wood
-Vinyl
-Cutting Machine (I used my Silhouette for this project.)
I asked Travis to make the board for me.
I gave him the dimensions on how large I wanted it and he made it using some slats of wood from an old fence.
Just glue and nail the boards to two boards on the back.
Time to add your words!
I actually played around on PicMonkey first and designed what I wanted the sign to look like.
When I had what I wanted, I pulled out some vinyl and got to work figuring it all out with my Silhouette.
I measured things out first determining what would be on each board and how many boards each category would need.
I then cut out a few words out of paper first to determine if the sizing was correct.
Once, I had what I liked, I just picked a few different fonts and got busy cutting everything out.
I had pre-planned on a piece of paper what would be cut out of each color so when I was using that sheet of vinyl, I cut everything out at once.
Once, it was all cut out, time to apply!
If you are doing this on wood like mine above, make sure your wood is clean and relativly smooth. Some of my boards were a little rough and the vinyl didn’t want to stick to it very well.
I love how it came out and it was a big hit at the party!
It is great for a first birthday party to share how much the baby
accomplished the first year of life but it would be fun for any age as
well!

Baby M 2.0 Update: Week 20

I’m officially halfway through this pregnancy!
YAHOOOO!!!!

How far along? 20 weeks
Total weight gain: 5
lbsI haven’t weighed myself in a week or so, so it could be a pound or two more by now.
Maternity clothes?
I have been wearing some things but still wear a lot of my regular clothing as well. I definitely need to go buy more shorts or other bottoms for the summer though.
Stretch marks?
Not new ones… just the ones from Miss P. 😛
Sleep: I’m still sleeping well, YAY, until I wake up about 5 usually to go to the bathroom then my congestion kicks in.

Best moment this week: Hmmmm… nothing very exciting happened. We hung out at home most of the time and Travis went out of town this past weekend so nothing exciting there either.

Miss Anything? Breathing normally and not needing to eat something every 2 stinkin’ hours!

Movement: I
feel the baby move more and more everyday. I’ve felt it with my hands
and I have tried to get Travis to feel it as well. He THINKS he felt it
move.
Food cravings: Not really which is no surprise because I really didn’t crave anything with P either.I have been eating quite a few S’mores though. 😉
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still
when I get really congested and can’t breathe it makes me sick. Other
than that, it is when I let too much time pass between snacks or meals. I got Monday morning because I made the mistake of not eating something before bed the night before and I woke up starving. Boo!
Gender: Don’t know yet. Hopefully find out TOMORROW morning!
Labor Signs: Hope not but I did have a couple Braxton Hicks this weekend. Fun!
Belly Button (in or out): In but slowly getting shallower

Wedding Rings (on or off): On
Symptoms: Congestion!
BLAH! Slight round ligament pain and I have had a few bats with nausea again!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Pretty happy but I have noticed my patience is getting a little shorter. I remember this happening with P as well especially with our animals.
Looking forward to: Our big ultrasound Tomorrow!!! Can’t wait to find out if we are having a boy or a girl! I had a dream the other night we were in the Ultrasound and it was a girl so I am curious if it is correct.

What do you think Baby M 2.0 will be?

Flower Photo Backdrop Tutorial

I have a super easy tutorial for you all today.
For Miss P’s party, I created a photo booth and made a flower backdrop.
It is fast, easy, and you only need a few supplies to create it.
Here’s how to make it.
Supplies:
-Tissue Paper Fans- I bought them at Party City
-Green Tissue Paper
-Roll of Craft Paper
-Scrapbook Paper
-Double Sided Tape
-3M Command Picture Hanging Strips
-Regular 3M Command Strips
To start:
I used the 3M Command Picture Hanging Strips to hang the craft paper on the wall so when I took the backdrop down the wall wouldn’t be messed up from tape.
I wanted a plain white background behind the flowers but you could easily just keep your wall color.
I then started hanging fans using the regular 3M Command Strips.
I placed all the large fans first, then went back and filled in with the smaller fans alternating colors as I went.
Once my fans were all in place, I cut out circles on my Cricut and used double sided tape to tape them onto the center of each fan to be more flower like.
I then cut leaves out of two different shades of tissue paper and used the double sided tape to tape them onto the wall around the edges then between some of the flowers to fill in some gaps.
And it’s done!
It was a fun, bright backdrop for our photo booth!

New Options to Read Your Favorite Blogs

I’m sure by now you’ve all heard the news… Google Reader is going away July 1st.
You may have already found a new reader to read all your favorite blogs but in case you haven’t, I have some options for you.
I want you to stay up to date with all the things happening here at A Glimpse Inside so I hope you find one that works for you.
You can always click on links on Facebook, Twitter, or even Google+ (if your favorite blogs post there… I’m bad about that.) but here are great Reader options:
First up is Bloglovin’
-Super easy to transfer all your blogs from Google Reader
-If you have a blog, you can “Claim” it as your own
-All blogs are on one page but you must scroll through them instead of clicking arrows to move to the next.
-Of course you can click on individual blogs to read their posts on one page.

Another option is Feedly
-Easy to transfer all your Blogs from Google Reader
-You can change the view of how all the blogs are displayed
-You can add categories
-There is a con though… MUST be a user of Chrome or Firefox to use.
(I had a reader let me know she uses Feedly on her Mac on Safari.)
Next would be The Old Reader
-Quite a few steps to transfer your blogs over. You must save a “takeout” of all your subscriptions in Google Reader first then upload it to transfer.
-Similar look as Google Reader- all listed on one page and you can click the arrows to move to the next post
Lastly, you can always subscribe to A Glimpse Inside through Feedburner.
You can choose how you want to read my Feed or get it delivered straight to your inbox by Email.
I hope that helps you all with the big switch!
And Good news… A Glimpse Inside is finally back up to date on all the Readers! YAY!
I know I disappeared at the beginning of the year and I finally got it all fixed so if you used to read me through a reader, you can find me there once again! 🙂

Create Your Own Party Hats

Last week I shared all of the decorations from Miss P’s 1st birthday and I said that I would be sharing how I created some of the items.
Today, I will be sharing the little party hats that I created to coordinate with the party.

Here’s the scoop on creating your own.

Supplies:
-Party hats to use as template and recover (I bought a pack of 6 at the Dollar Store)
-Scrapbook paper
-Ribbon
-Hot Glue Gun
-Other Embellishments to use to decorate

Start by opening up one of the party hats and taking off the elastic band to use it as a template.

Trace the party hat on the scrapbook paper you are using as the main covering.

Cut out the hat shape.

Take a new hat, not the one you opened to trace, and it is time to recover it. Leave the elastic in place.
Before you glue, dry fit your paper. One side of the paper is longer so make sure you dry fit to make sure it fits properly and covers all the hat.
Glue one side of the paper down at the seam.

Glue along the bottom of the hat and glue down the paper.

Wrap completely and place glue down the last side.

All wrapped and ready for embellishments.

I had some cute pom-pom trim and started by gluing that to the bottom of the hat.

I then took some regular ribbon and created a ruffle to cover the the pom-pom.
I just glued a little bit of ribbon, folded it back on itself and placed a dot of glue and folded it back to make another ruffle.

Ruffle all complete.

I then used my Cricut to cut out a One to add to the hat.
I doubled layered the one and added some glitter to the yellow portion.

All set for the party!

I didn’t stop at just Miss P’s hat, I also created some for the guests to wear in the photo booth.

Here is Miss P wearing her hat while she was eating her cake.

I’m so glad I decided to make her a hat instead of buying one.

How far along? 19 weeks

I don’t really need them quite yet but I have worn a few of my shirts

Stretch marks?
Not new ones… just the ones from Miss P. 😛
Sleep: I’m still sleeping well, YAY, until I wake up about 5 usually to go to the bathroom then my congestion kicks in.

Best moment this week: Getting to spend Father’s Day actually WITH Travis this year.

Miss Anything? Breathing normally and not needing to eat something every 2 stinkin’ hours!

Movement: I feel the baby move more and more everyday. I’ve felt it with my hands and I have tried to get Travis to feel it as well. He THINKS he felt it move.
