“Give Thanks” Plaque

With Halloween being tomorrow, I thought it would be ok if I skip ahead to Thanksgiving now.
I actually made this last year and shared it on a friend’s blog and never had the chance to share it here with all of you. So here ya go!

Here is a simple craft that anyone can do in a short period of time.

Give Thanks Plaque
Here’s how you can create your own.
Supplies:
-Plaque (You can buy a plain wooden one from a craft store but I had this from a Habitat for Humanity Restore. It is a kitchen drawer front.)
-Scrapbook Paper
-Mod Podge
-Dimensional Magic (I used the Gold Glitter option.)
-A cutting machine to cut your letters out. Could stickers or chip board letters as well.

To start:
Place your scrapbook paper over the plaque and rub your fingers over the raised edge to crease the paper.
You paper will have then be creased in the shape of the top portion of the plaque so just follow those marks and cut out.
All cut out and ready to be glued down.
Mod Podge your paper in place.
I did NOT coat the top of the paper at this time. Only used the Mod Podge to glue down the paper.
Once the Mod Podge is dry, take a file and go over the edges of the paper. This will remove and paper that is slightly larger in spot than your plaque.
See… paper was slightly larger and just filed it right off.
I then took my chalk ink out that I use for scrapbooking, and used it on the edges to darken the white edges of the paper and add a little weathered look.
I used my Cricut to cut out the words “Give Thanks.” I cut out a shadow in the pink and then the actually letters in brown.
Glued the two letters together and let dry.
Again, you can use stickers or chip board letters for this part.
I then Mod Podged the letters onto the scrapbook paper and gave the letters one last coat of Mod Podge to seal it.
When the Mod Podge was dry, I took the Dimensional Magic with gold glitter and coated each inner letter.
Dimensional Magic all dry. Nice and raised and glittery!
And we are done!
Super easy project and fast as well.
It is the perfect finishing touch over my stove in my little window alcove!
I hope you guys enjoyed this easy project!

Baby M 2.0 Update: Week 38

Oh, I am ready for this pregnancy to be over. Not much longer now!

How far along? 38 weeks
Total weight gain: Uh… I am not sure. I have lost track. I’d say I’ve gained enough! lol
Maternity clothes?
For as large and in charge that this belly is- definitely in maternity clothes.
Stretch marks?
I
don’t think I have any new ones yet but I have noticed that the ones on
my sides have looked a little red like perhaps they are getting longer
or stretching more.
Sleep: Still
sleeping relatively well. I
do feel like I am getting up a little more to go to the bathroom at
night.

Best moment this week: Finally got all the backsplash tile up in the kitchen. Just need to grout it now. Also, got a lot of other small things done around the house. Plus, we carved P’s first pumpkin. She wasn’t a fan of the insides, AT ALL, but I think she still had fun with it.

Miss Anything? I just want to breathe!!!!! Ready to not have a sore lower back and hips as well.

Movement: She
definitely moves a lot. She is definitely running out of space in there
and likes to make her presence known by pushing herself up, out and
under my ribs.
Food cravings: nope, nothing
Anything making you queasy or sick: Mostly
just letting too much time pass between eating. I swear, if I don’t eat
as soon as I feel like I am a little hungry, then it hits me out of no
where and I am shakey.
Gender: GIRL!!!
Labor Signs: Not really but did find out at my doctor’s appt. yesterday that I am dilated 2-3 cm. and 75% effaced. 🙂 Yay for progress!
Belly Button (in or out): I’m
gonna just say out. It isn’t fully flat but I have a feeling it will be
by the end which is interesting because it wasn’t with Miss P.

Wedding Rings (on or off): On but towards the evenings I do feel like my fingers are swelling a little.
Symptoms: Congestion!

BLAH! Lower back pain if I am walking way too much. Hip pain when sleeping on one side too
long. I am definitely warm/hot at night. Going to the bathroom a little more these days. And, this belly is getting heavy… I’m done!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Oh, I definitely had some moody days this week. I was still happy most of the time but I have also had some not so fun pissy, crying moments.
Looking forward to: My parents arrive this week so that means… whenever Baby M wants to arrive she can!!! 🙂

DIY Hot Air Balloon Tutorial

A few months back someone linked up some adorable hot air balloons up to my Catch a Glimpse party and I knew they would be something super fun for the new baby.
I popped on over to check out the tutorial on Sew. Craft. Create and saw how easy they were and was excited about them but wasn’t sure where or what I would do with them since at the time, Baby M was going to share a room with her big sister.
Once we decided that the girls would have their own rooms, I still wasn’t sure if and how I wanted to use them. We decided to make an area in the hall between the bedrooms as a changing table area for both girls by using the antique dresser we had in the guest room, now Baby M’s room, so I thought they would be super cute above the dresser and finally got to work on them this past week.
Here’s my how to:
Supplies:
– Paper party lanterns
– Small Treat Buckets (I bought mine in the Dollar section at Target)
-Twine
-Ribbon
-Hot Glue Gun
-Paint

To start:
Since the treat buckets I bought were orange, I painted them with a few coats of brown paint.
Don’t forget to paint the bottom of the buckets too since they will be hanging!
Next, take your twine and measure them along the side of the bucket and cut to length.
Glue the twine along the side of the buckets like rope.
Space the twine evenly around the bucket.
I cut 6 pieces for the size of my buckets.
Then, take your twine again and wrap the very bottom edge of the bottom. Cut to lengh.
Glue the twine around the bottom edge, overlapping the previous ends of the twine.
Time to add the twine to the lanterns.
Measure the twine from the very top lip of the lantern, along the lantern to the bottom lip pulling tight.
Then extend the twine below the lantern the length you want your bucket to hang.
Cut 4 pieces of twine the same length for each lantern.
Glue the twine evenly spaced on the lantern.
You should have four long ends hanging on the bottom of your lantern.
Glue the ends of the twine from the lantern to the bucket.
Wrap the top edge of the bucket with twine overlapping all the ends of twine already glued.
You can stop here if you like or you can continue on to add a little something more.
You can use regular ribbon or some eyelet ribbon like I did, your choice!
Wrap the top edge of the bucket and cut the ribbon to length.
Glue the ribbon to the top edge of the bucket.
And you are done!!
To hang, I tied fishing line to the lanterns and then tied the other end to a push pin and just pushed the pin into the ceiling.
I left my lanterns as is but you can check out a cute way to change them up a little over at Sew. Craft. Create.
I love how they came out and can’t wait to get the rest of this area completely set up.
I plan on adding a banner under the balloons for a little something extra so stay tuned for that in the future!
Hope the girls both enjoy this little area as well!

Tasty Tuesday- Pizza Casserole Recipe

I have been trying to make some freezer meals before Baby M 2.0 arrives so I pulled this trusty recipe out of my recipe box.

It is an easy recipe, which is always great, and who doesn’t love pizza?

This recipe yields a large amount of food but you could easily cut the recipe in half to make less.
I chose to make the entire recipe since I wanted some to freeze.
Pizza Casserole:
Ingredients:
– 2 lbs of ground beef
– 3/4 cup chopped green pepper
– 2 cans of Cream of Mushroom Soup
– 2 Cans of Tomato Bisque Soup
– 1 8 oz. Can of Pizza Sauce
– 1 cup of Water
– 1 teaspoon of Oregano
– 1/2 teaspoon of Garlic Powder
– 1 box of Rigatoni Noodles
– Parmesan Cheese
– Mozzarella Cheese
– Pepperoni
To Make:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Brown the ground beef along with the chopped green pepper. Drain.
3. As you are browning your meat, cook the whole box of pasta.
4. Combine the Cream of Mushroom Soup, Tomato Bisque Soup, Pizza Sauce, Water, Oregano, and Garlic Powder with the Cooked Ground Beef and Cooked Noodles. Mix well.
5. Spread the mixture into two 9×13 pans (if making the whole recipe) or 1 9×13 pan (if cutting the recipe in half). Sprinkle with Parmesan Cheese to taste.
6. Then sprinkle with Mozzarella Cheese and dot with Pepperoni.

7. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 mins. covered then 15 mins. uncovered.

 ENJOY!!

Baby M 2.0 Update: Week 37

Before I continue with today’s update post, I am looking for a few guest posters while I take a blogging maternity leave. Check out this post and fill out the form if you are interested in helping me out. Thanks!
37 weeks… FULL TERM! YAY!

How far along? 37 weeks
Total weight gain: Uh… I am not sure. I have lost track. I’d say I’ve gained enough! lol

I
don’t think I have any new ones yet but I have noticed that the ones on
my sides have looked a little red like perhaps they are getting longer
or stretching more.
Sleep: Still sleeping relatively well. I have had a night or two that I wake up to go to the bathroom and it takes me a while to fall back to sleep. And I do feel like I am getting up a little more to go to the bathroom at night.

Best moment this week: Got some frames put up on the nursery walls. Got another project completed for above the changing table. We took Miss P to Boo at the Zoo and she was a little confused at first to what she was suppose to do but caught on quickly. She looks super cute in her Halloween costume too! 🙂

Miss Anything? I just want to breathe!!!!! Ready to not have a sore lower back and hips as well.

Movement: She
definitely moves a lot. She is definitely running out of space in there
and likes to make her presence known by pushing herself up, out and

as soon as I feel like I am a little hungry, then it hits me out of no
where and I am shakey.
Gender: GIRL!!!
Labor Signs: Nope but I would be perfectly fine if something did show itself!
Belly Button (in or out): I’m
gonna just say out. It isn’t fully flat but I have a feeling it will be
by the end which is interesting because it wasn’t with Miss P.

Wedding Rings (on or off): On but towards the evenings I do feel like my fingers are swelling a little.

BLAH! Lower back pain if I am walking way too much. Hip pain when sleeping on one side too
long. And I am definitely warm/hot at night.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy
Looking forward to: Hoping to figure out and make some decorations and get a few things up that I have in the nursery. Carving our pumpkins this coming up weekend.
