Fun FREE Valentine Printables!

Hey friends, I’m Jamie and I blog over at Pure Joy Creative!

I am so excited to be a part of the creative team here at A Glimpse Inside!! I’ll be sharing lots of different things over my time here but if there’s something specific that you are looking for don’t hesitate to ask!

Today I am going to share with you some fun FREE Valentine’s Day Printables!

I started dabbling in hand lettering over two years ago. I did some drawing to pass the time at my job where I was the Afternoons Director at my kids school. Part of my job included supervising kids in the homework room and I obviously didn’t have homework so I started writing scripture verses in fun fonts to pass the time. I looked online for some inspiration and tutorials and eventually started creating custom pieces for friends and strangers alike.

I am still learning more and more about hand lettering but one thing I know is that I love it! It is something that I can see myself doing for a long time…which is saying a LOT because I’m kind of an ADD Crafter. I tend to try the newest, latest thing and get bored with it. That just isn’t the case with hand lettering. I am still learning the process of digitizing the designs but I think for now what I have created will work pretty well for your kids!

I also created some grown up Valentines and those can be found in my etsy store

But for now, let’s get to the FREE printables for the kids!

I made two different sheets of printables for you. One is a”school supply” valentine sheet and the other just has lots of hearts and words!

I am on the cheap thrifty side and I don’t do a lot of candy so for Valentine’s Day my kids simply give out homemade Valentine’s with no candy or anything else (lame I know). However, these printables can be used in conjunction with other things if you so desire.

You could buy the school supply that is mentioned on the Valentine or you could easily tape a couple of crayons to the Valentine and let their friends color them on their own.

It’s a good excuse to use some of that washi tape you’ve been hoarding…or is that just me?!

My kids loved coloring these and they were so excited that I “actually made something real”…ha!

I would love to see how you use these Valentines!

If you post on Instagram or Facebook I’d love it if you would use the hashtag #pjcinthewild so I can see how you made these your own!

I look forward to chatting with you again next month!
Come hang out with me on

IG or my blog as well!! I’ve got a FREE Star Wars Valentine Printable on my blog today too!

Three FREE Valentine’s Printables…you can’t beat that, well, you probably can, but it’s fun none-the-less!

Download the School Supply Valentine’s HERE!

Download the Heart Valentine’s HERE!

These FREE printable Valentines are for personal use only!

Please don’t alter, copy, or reproduce to sell! Just direct people here to get the link to download! Thanks!

Black & Gold Valentine Yarn Wreath, January “Craft with Me” Series

I asked last week if anyone would be interested in a Craft with Me series and I had a few people tell me they would like it and if I wanted to do it, then do it so…. Welcome to the January Edition of the Craft with Me Series.
Every month I will post an easy craft that anyone can make, using supplies that anyone can buy, and show you my version of it. Then at the end of the post I will have a linky where you can link up your own version. Make it just like mine, change the colors or other accents to make it your own! So simple and fun!
January’s “Craft with Me” project is a little something for Valentine’s Day.
It isn’t super fancy and is easy to make and I like a good wreath so I thought it would be a good start.
Here is how to create one for yourself.

Supplies:
-Wreath Form, (mine is a 10 in)
-Yarn in color of your choosing
-Wooden Hearts
-Acrylic Paint
-Ribbon
-Paint Pens (not pictured)
-Hot Glue Gun
Start by painting the wooden hearts the colors of your choosing.
Let dry.
While your hearts are drying, time to start wrapping your wreath form with the yarn.
To begin, just hot glue one end of the yarn to the wreath form.
Wrap the yarn around the form trying to keep it as close as possible.
After you complete a few wraps, go back and use your hand to rub the yarn around the form tighter and backwards. This is hard to write out to explain so I hope you understand but you want to make sure that the yarn is tight and you can not see any of the form between the yarn.
Continue until the entire form is covered and then just glue the end down.
After the hearts are dry, decorate them using paint pens.
I just free handed some patterns on my hearts and wrote “love” on one of them but you can leave them plain, decorate them, write words like conversation hearts, whatever!
Glue the hearts to the wreath in whatever arrangement you desire.
I overlapped mine all on one side of the wreath.
Create a loop with ribbon so you can hang your wreath.
And that’s it!!
You could always add some more ribbon around the hearts if you’d like to add a little more to it but I wanted to keep mine simple.
I went with the nontraditional black, white, and gold color scheme again for this project but it would be super fun in the normal pinks, white, reds, and purple too!
Now it is time to get creating and share your wreaths!
I’ll pick a few of my favorites and will share them before the next “Craft with Me” project is live.
Share your projects below.

I Asked, Miss P Answered

Miss P will be 4 in 4 mths! How is that even possible!?
I feel like it was only last year that I was sharing my weekly pregnancy updates with you guys and now she is going to be 4!
She has definitely been in her “threenager” stage lately and I must say I am anxious for her to get over it but she is fun and has a sweet side.
I saw these questions floating around on FB when some of my friends were posting them in their statuses and I thought it would be fun to ask Miss P them as well. We had a mommy/daughter day last Thursday to celebrate her accomplishment of finally conquering the whole pooping in the potty situation and thought this would be the perfect time to sit down and ask her so I did just that after dinner that night.

And since it was so fun and cute to do, I wanted to share the questions with you so you could sit down with your kids as well.

Miss P, 3 1/2 yrs.

1. What is something I always say to you?
       “I love you”
2. What makes me happy?
       “friends”
3. What makes me sad?
      “not having friends”
4. How do I make you laugh?
“when you burp” (lol and it is true!)
5. What was I like as a child?
       “You were tiny and nice”
6. How old am I?
       “20” ( I’ll take it!)
 7. How tall am I?
       “big”
8. What is my favorite thing to do?
       “projects” (she knows me well!)
9. What do I do when you’re not around?
       “stuff for me”
10. What am I really good at?
      “projects” (glad she thinks so!)
11. What is something I’m not good at?
      “I don’t know”
12. What do I do for a job?
“projects” (I am seeing a theme but she is right! lol)
13. What is my favorite food?
“bagels” (they are a favorite breakfast item for sure!)
14. What do you enjoy doing with me?
      “painting”

Without ANY prompting, ask your kids these questions. It’s a great
way to see what they think.

I actually ran across a longer version on Joy in My Kitchen with 23 questions that I think would be nice to ask little bit older children.
I sure hope you ask your kiddos these questions! It really is a lot of fun to see what they think.
I was actually quite relieved at how Miss P answered because I thought she would for sure say that I say “no” to her all the time or “be nice” or something to that extent. And since I feel like I am yelling more than usual I thought something about that would have been an answer so I am thrilled that wasn’t the first route she turned! 🙂
Just shows you never know what your kids will say and that they do pay attention to something, just not when you actually want them too! lol

{Feature Friday} #59

Another January Friday is here and I am pretty happy about it since that means I only have one more week until Travis comes home. Thank goodness! This momma is getting a little stir crazy and can’t wait to be able to talk to an adult on a regular basis again! lol
Thankfully I have the good ole blog and all of you to “talk” to help keep me sane.
Since it is Friday that means it is time to share some great ideas from The Handmade Hangout Party last week. This week I decided to forego any recipes and keep it straight crafts, decorating, and diy ideas. Hopefully you’ll see something that inspires you.

 Thanks for linking up everyone!

Have a fantastic weekend!
Hope you do something fun or get something creative complete!

I am bound and determined to stain the last bit of hardwood downstairs that has been untouched because of the remodel. Luckily it is completely sanded and our temperatures are finally going to be at freezing so it IS going to be completed!! Wish me luck!

Strawberry Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

Hi readers, I’m Molly from Just a Little Creativity, and I’m so happy to be a part of the 2016 Creative Team here at A Glimpse Inside!
Today I’m sharing a tried and true, delicious, and super easy Strawberry Double Chocolate Chip Cookie  recipe. Perfect for a Valentines Day treat, your people will love you for baking these.
I’ll admit, strawberry isn’t usually my go-to flavor, it’s chocolate, but the first time I experimented in the kitchen and created these goodies, I was hooked. My youngest kiddo Isaac is seven, and he loves to help me in the kitchen, especially using the hand mixer (he’s not allowed to go past level 1 for speed, but he doesn’t mind). He’s usually got good ideas too. In fact, it was his idea to include the two types of chocolate chips in this recipe (white and dark), and let me tell you, the double chocolate flavors set these cookies apart from the rest.

The past Christmas I made my first batch of cake batter cookies, and I figured if it worked for a funfetti cake mix, surely a strawberry cake would work too. I tweaked my original recipe just a little, and the results are delicious.

Here are your ingredients:

1 box of strawberry cake mix (18.25 oz)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
2/3 cup white chocolate chips
2/3 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350˚
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well until they form a sticky dough.
Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes.
Remove from fridge and roll dough into tall oval shaped 1 inch balls. (this shape may sound odd, but trust me, the cookies turn out perfectly rounded and fluffy when you do it like this).
Bake for 8-10 minutes.
Let cool before serving.

Everyone loves cookies, right?
Bake a batch this Valentines Day and place them in a pretty box, and you’ve got an instant gift for a neighbor, kid’s teacher, friend or family member to let them know how extra special they are.
Enjoy!

Would you be Interested…

Happy Tuesday everyone!
I don’t have a craft or decorating post for you today but I am here to get your opinion.
I am thinking of starting a new series on my blog, a “Craft with Me” series and was curious if this would be something that would be of interest to you guys.
I would share a craft once a month, something relatively easy, using items that anyone can easily go out and buy and use and share it with all of you. You would create your own version of the craft and I would have a link party attached to the post where you can link up your creation to show off.
I thought this would be something fun to add to the blog in 2016. I would ask for some of my blog friends to participate as well to get a fun array of projects
So tell me, PLEASE, would this be something that would interest you guys?!
Leave me a comment telling me yay or nay so I can get to planning on this month’s project!
Thanks guys and have a great rest of the week! 🙂

Black and Gold Wood Heart

Valentine’s Day is now less than a month away. I don’t normally decorate all the much for it but with the girls getting a little older, and now realizing and understanding things more, it is more fun to be able to enjoy it more seeing it through their eyes.
I have a craft for you today for Valentine’s Day and I decided to not make the traditional red, pink, purple and went with the trend of white, black and gold.
I love how it came out and it is so super easy!

This is how you can make your own.

Supplies:
-Wooden Heart (I bough this last year at Target in the dollar section but I’m sure you can find something similar at a craft store)
-Acrylic Paint in the colors of your choosing
-Brushes
-Paint Pen
-Pencil
-Round Pounce Brushes

Paint the heart the base color of your choosing. This came plain and I forgot to take a picture of it before I painted it. I was just a little too ready to craft! lol

Using gold metallic paint and round pounce brushes, make polka dots on the heart.
You don’t have to make dots, you can leave it plain or add stripes- whatever!

I then used the back end of a regular paint brush and added really small dots to the heart.
Let dry completely.
Using a pencil, lightly draw the word or phrase you want to add to your heart.
I decided to use “XO” on my heart.
When I had my pencil lines how I wanted them, I used a black Sharpie paint pen to write the letters.
Once the paint is dry, erase any pencil lines you may still see.
If you don’t feel confident in your ability to draw the letters yourself you could always use a stencil OR cut out the letters in vinyl and apply them.
And that’s it!!
My heart already came with a twine string to hang it by but if the one you buy doesn’t you can always add some ribbon or twine to the back of it to hang it.
I love that I went the non traditional route.
Now to decide where to hang it and if I am going to make more black and gold Valentine’s Day items! 🙂
