Moroccan Inspired Party Ideas

Miss S turns 4 this week so I am in the midst of planning her birthday party this weekend.
She wants a Shimmer and Shine themed birthday party so we are doing that but also giving it more of a Moroccan feel.
We are going with bright jewel tone colors and accents of gold throughout with fabric and things hanging from the ceiling. We even plan to lower our dining table so the guests sit on the ground. We’ll see how it all comes together in the end because I feel a little unprepared still! lol
Today, I rounded up some ideas to get you inspired to throw your own Moroccan themed party.
All I ask is that if you want to pin an idea below, please click on the link and pin from the original post OR pin the above image collage. Thanks! 🙂
Have you thrown a Moroccan inspired party before?
What elements did you include in your party?

MHCT&M: Gadgets and Tools Gift Guide

Happy Friday everyone!
There are only 9 Fridays left, including today, until Christmas!
SAY WHAT?! We are back again this week with more gift ideas for you to help you do a little shopping so you can be done well before Christmas.
Hi again, Allison here. My gift guide is full of products we use in our home and my husband and I think they are awesome products.

This post does include affiliate links which means if you purchase
something using one of the links below we will earn a little bit of
money, but it is at no added cost to you.

I’ll start in the kitchen with a few things we really like.

Make veggie pasta with a Veggetti Spiral Vegetable Slicer. There are larger systems out there but this one works great and takes up much less room than a large machine.

I think Instant Pots are the latest rage but it really is a fabulous appliance you should have in your kitchen. It makes things so fast but I also love the slow cooker option.
My husband loves avocados, and he loves having an avocado slicer. This one has a knife, a spot to get out the pit, plus the slicer. It makes it that much faster to enjoy that avocado.

Have some that loves to cook? How about getting them a unique chef knife? You can even get it engraved!
Don’t have anyone that would like a chef knife? AIM Blades has hatchets, smaller knives, axes and more and all of them can be personalized.
Leaving the kitchen and moving towards some tools or other things we love.
Have small kids, own a small business, or go camping a lot? This Collapsible Utility Wagon from Mac Sports is perfect or all of those! This wagon is sturdy, folds up nicely for travel, and the wheels are great. There is even a more heavy duty option with bigger wheels for rougher use.
We do a TON of house and other diy projects in my house and I love having a paint sprayer to get the job done more efficiently. This sprayer from Home Right works amazingly.
My husband has one of these Leatherman Multi-tool and it lives on his belt. I even have a mini version I carry around in my purse. It has so many tools on it that it can help you with all your needs.
This Little Giant Ladder is far from little! It is heavy duty, sturdy and meets all your ladder needs.
Painting on a stairway? You can adjust the ladder to be uneven and placed on multiple steps to help you reach what you need. Flip it all the way open and make it one long extension ladder, it can help you with any of your ladder needs.
Someone in your life enjoy building furniture or cabinets? The Pocket Hole Jig from Kreg is the best tool to give them to help hide all those screws.
What are some of your favorite tools or gadgets that would make a perfect gift?
Stay tuned next week for more gift ideas to help get your Christmas shopping complete.

Little House on the Prairie Birthday Party

When you have five kids and a small budget and not a ton of extra time you have to get creative with how you celebrate their birthdays. All three of our girls have their birthdays in October and it’s also our Anniversary month. So we decided a while back that we would make their birthday special by taking the birthday kid out to breakfast, then letting them pick what they wanted me to make for dinner and the flavor and decorations on their cake. We then let them have a big “friend” birthday party when they turn 1, 5 and 10. And this year my fourth child turned 5. How is that possible!!
The theme she chose for her birthday party is an Autumn Harvest Party…and I would tell you all about it but the party isn’t until this coming Saturday. But I am VERY excited about her party because we have a family from church who has agreed to bring their horse so all the party guests can ride the horse. My girls LOVE horses so this will be a really fun surprise for them. We’ve been lucky with the spacing of the kids because there won’t be a year where two kids have big parties in the same year. But I will be throwing at least one party every year for a while!! And that’s okay because I love to throw a good “theme” party every once in a while.
I ask my kids to pick a theme early enough so I can start pinning ideas and making things ahead of time for the party. Of course I always run out of time and don’t get to everything I wanted to. This year I totally forgot to mail invitation so I had to do a Facebook message and that totally drives me nuts!!
Last year my oldest turned 10 and she picked a “Little House on the Prairie” theme and we had a really fun party!!! I love putting together parties and would love to do this for other people as well. I set up and “Olsen’s mercantile” in our patio and we played games and did some crafts. We asked the girls to dress up like Laura and Mary too. It was a great time!!
Here are some pictures from her party.

My friend Kellee made the cookies and we used them as party favors!! She’s making some again this year for Abi’s party!!

Naomi asked for a pie instead of a cake and I think it fit the theme perfectly!!

The girls did a little painting…

and sewing…

And they all had some personalized gifts to take home!

They also played some games, drop the pin in the bucket and a potato sack race.
The girls all had a really good time and I was wiped out!! It was so much fun creating these memories with these girls for my daughter…it was just a few months later that we found out we would be moving. I’m so glad she had this time with her friends!!

I can’t wait to share a little bit about Abi’s birthday party next month!!
How do you make your kids birthdays extra special?!

Being a blogger, I should post Christmas ideas beginning of October but I have a confession, I REALLY struggle to post anything Christmas related before Halloween. That makes me behind on the Christmas traffic ball but that’s ok with me.
This year though, I decided I could sneak in one a little earlier for those of you that are way on top of your game and I rounded up some fabulous DIY Ornaments.
All I ask is that if you plan on pinning one of these amazing ideas is that you pin directly from the site of the ornament you like OR pin the collage image above. Thanks!:)
Now onto the fabulous ornament ideas.
I’m sure you”ll find something you’ll want to make this year.

Autumn Place and Menu Card Printables

When I created my autumn printable this year I thought the wreath would be perfect for table place cards and menu cards for Thanksgiving or fall dinner parties so I whipped some up and am sharing them with you today.
I designed the place cards so there are 8 on a sheet and all you have to do is print them off and cut them apart.
The menu cards are 5x7s so you can get two per sheet.
You can write in your menu and the names of your cards or you can load the file into Photoshop or Picmonkey and you can add your information with the font features and then resave the file before printing.
Grab your cards below.
If the widgets are working you can grab the place cards here and the menu cards here.

Are you getting excited for Halloween? I have a love/hate relationship with Halloween. I love the fun decorations and yummy treats. I hate figuring out costumes for my kids! Costumes used to be fun. UNTIL they started to get opinions about what they wanted to be. *Sigh* I guess they can’t stay little forever.
Today I’m sharing some fun Halloween crafts and recipes.

Neutral Fall Tablescape

Happy Tuesday everyone!
Are you ready for the hustle and bustle of the holiday season? Parties, gift shopping, meal prepping, decorating?
Can I tell you a secret?
I sure the heck am not!
We still have two birthdays and one birthday party to make it through before I can shift out of birthday prep mode and change it into holiday mode.
BUT since the holidays can be such a busy season, I have a simple, neutral fall tablescape to share with you today that you can easily create even when you have a full schedule with little time to spare!
I kept it rather simple and I love how it came out.
It will probably just be my little family for the holidays like usual so it doesn’t need to be over the top but still feels special.
Let’s take a closer look.
I layered a wood charger with a simple white plate and placed the linen napkin on top of the plate with this green pumpkin plate on top.

I found these green pumpkin plates in the dollar spot at Target. I love them and will be the perfect bread plate during dinner.
I also bought these linen fringed napkins at Target.
I just tied them loosely with twine so they can easily be opened up for use.
These white plates are actually are every day dishes but they can easily be dressed up for holiday meals.
And you may recognize these wood chargers from my Christmas tablescape last year. I bought them in the dollar spot at Target last year and wanted to use them in this tablescape again. Yes, it is spun upside down because I didn’t want to see the pine tree and the plate hides it when it is turned this way. lol It is a faux wood charger so I couldn’t just flip them over to use.
Simple wine glasses round out the place setting, I need some pretty water goblets but that’s another story.
I placed a linen runner with gold dots on the ends down the center of the table, also found a few seasons ago in the Target dollar spot.
In the center of the table, I placed my stacked floral pumpkins and my simple lace pumpkin along with some candles and dried hydrangeas from our garden.
I love how these hydrangeas dry out before I cut them. They were originally white but turn green when they begin to die out and then start to turn pink as well. Perfect to cut and add into your fall decor!
We will enjoy eating our Thanksgiving dinner with the set up and since
there are only four of us, there is plenty of space on the ends of the
table to place all the yummy food we will enjoy!
There you have it!
Do you like to set up your table even if it is just your small family for a holiday meal?
