I finally had some time to get some crafting done and actually got two projects completed tonight.
Here’s one of them, perfect for spring!
Supplies:
– Picture frame of any size, glass removed
-Felt
-Toilet Paper/Paper Towel cardboard tubes (they’re back!)
-Acrylic paint
-Hot Glue gun
How-To:
-Start by cutting out your background felt the size of your frame.
I used the back portion of the frame to measure but you can also use the glass.
-I wanted some grass so I cut a small portion of green felt to the size I wanted.
-Then I fringed the felt to look like glass blades.
-Hot glue down onto the background piece.
-Next, measure and cut the tubes into 1/2 inch pieces.
-Paint the pieces the color of your choice.
-3 for each tulip.
-Before I glue, I dry fit the pieces how I like them.
-Then begin gluing together.
Place hot glue about halfway up the side of one piece and press the second piece to it.
Depending on how high you put the glue on will determine how wide the petals will look.
-Next, cut out a rectangle in the green felt, the length you want your stem and any width.
-Glue and roll the felt rectangle into a tube.
Glue everything how you’d like it onto the background.
I also painted one more cardboard piece green, cut it in half and used it as leaves.
And there you have it!
Fun spring 3d Art!
This would be a great project to do with kids.
And you can definitely change things up a bit.
Try making daisy flowers instead of tulips. Or how about making felt flowers or even a garden of rosettes? Just get creative and use your imagination!
Can you tell I’m ready for spring and all the flowers?! lol

March 23, 2011 at 12:18 amThis is so cute! You should make a 3D book. That actually sounds ridiculously hard. I used to love those pop-up books growing up; I should have appreciated the book designers more! Thank you for linking up at Ten Buck Tuesday!
