Like a Category 5 tornado Ripped through it out of control!
I was so tired of it and finally found the motivation to start.
So my craft room had to face the Wrath of Allison!
But here is how my room looked before.
See… Cat 5!
Window wall. UGH!
Unfortunately, it seems my craft room is also the catch all room so items that are not suppose to be in here or are one of those items you ask yourself “where to keep this?” ends up in here.
-I still had my Christmas wrapping paper and boxes out and about.
-Shipping boxes that I needed to break down and store
-Christmas presents thrown in the room (notice the box for my Cricut Gypsy and my new Cricut rolling bag)
-Tons of mail that was thrown in this room to get it out of the way when everyone visited for Thanksgiving
-And my prize was up here from the Command Contest.
That is just a Quarter of the room!
Now onto my actually crafting area…
I am normally a rather organized person and slightly OCD about having things clean so it’s crazy I am actually able to craft like this.
Travis actually wonders the same thing.
Ok… back to the mess.
-Stuff is all on the floor
-I have a bag that is FULL of cardstock and other scrapbook paper that was never put away after our move…ugh!
-Table is a mess because the day we were leaving for TN for Christmas, I had to quickly cut something out for my MIL that I forgot to do so the cricut is out, paper is everywhere and I was trying to gather the supplies I needed to take with me
-I actually have storage cubes but half the stuff is just sitting on top of them or totally not organized in them
I couldn’t take this anymore!
I came to my breaking point!
And I am sure I could get SO MUCH more done if I was more organized.
Welcome to Reorganizationfest 2011!
I asked Travis to help me unload my room.
So I just handed him anything that needed to go in the hallway to get a fresh perspective.
I had two more storage cubes and needed to figure out where to put them amongst the rest of them. Also, I was having trouble with some of the drawers in my unit that were near the bottom because of the heavier units on top so I wanted to just rearrange these as well.
Can you spot my little helper in the mix some where?!
But I practically emptied out all my storage cubes and refilled them. Some of them were good and didn’t need much change.
My BIG problem was the fact that I had 5 totes full of scrapbook paper, embellishments and other scrapbook items.
See all of them stacked on the floor.
Yeah… those needed a home and not back on top of the cubes because they are just too darn heavy!
Some of the paper came out and went onto the shelves in the middle.
One I emptied out of the supplies that I use frequently and got a home in the closet.
But I still had FOUR left!
What to do, what to do?!
But after 2 days and an hour or two yesterday, I AM DONE!
It feels SO GOOD!
I have a pile of items that I decided to part with but I am sure there was more that could go.
I did have a lot of trash though!
So… you want to see it?! If you even care.
I want to make a fun skirt for my table but haven’t found any fabric that I just LOVE yet. Hopefully I will soon.
But let’s take a closer look, shall we?!
I have one of these little shelves that you put in cabinets to make more room on the corner of my desk. I’ve had it there with my light on top but other “stuff” piled up there as well.
I put all my scissors, ruler, and other tools in a vase I had and some pens, pencils, and markers in another one.
I got a little tool kit for Christmas and that sits up there as well.
Then I bought a small set of drawers a while ago and filled them with all my felt, vinyl, and crepe paper which are labeled and set that on top.
I had my sewing machine on the bottom shelf and that found a new home in order for the rest of my totes to sit on the bottom. YEAH, THEY FOUND A HOME!
Next to that is my portable light box I got from my BIL for Christmas.
I had some sewing stuff on the middle shelf and that got put into the very stuffed closet. I put that awesome little tote I received as part of my winnings for the Command Contest on the shelf full of my yarn.
Next to it I have my Cricut Jukebox and Cricut Gypsy.
Top shelf stayed the same. I have LOTS of ribbon. LOTS!
There is ribbon in that brown ribbon box I made.
Ribbon in the ribbon bag.
And I used a spice rack to stack spools of ribbon on the shelf.
Then my cricut stayed in it’s home on top of the shelf.
We put up the shelves after we moved in and they hold all my Etsy items.
The white cabinet is full of items I’ve purchased for future Etsy items or other craft projects.
My tv sits on top of that cabinet that I watch, use for background noise, when I’m crafting.
So much so that I got 3 small projects done yesterday after I finished it and almost finished a fourth! 🙂 AWESOME!!
Now I just need to find the fabric for my table skirt and possibly new curtains and figure out what I want to put on the walls in this place.
A craft room should have stuff on the walls, shouldn’t it!?
I can’t wait to produce more fun items in here and here’s to keeping it CLEAN and ORGANIZED!
Craft Room Reorganizationfest 2011 is officially closed but perhaps Reorganizationfest will run its way through other rooms in this house. Hmmmmm!
Linking up to some of these parties.
