Create Your Own Chalkboard
We are currently on our way back from a camping trip to the Grand Canyon so there will not be a Feature Friday post today. Sorry!
But I do have a super easy tutorial for you today.
For Miss P’s birthday, I created this Chalkboard to put on the dessert table and it was so easy!
Here’s how to make it.
-Wooden frame plaque (bought at Michaels)
Begin by painting the outside area a color of your choice.
I painted into the center section about a 1/4 to 1/2 in.
Then take a ruler and mark off your center chalkboard. I marked it at 1/4 in. in from the edge.
Leave a few marks around your frame so you can use tape for a straight line.
Use painter’s tape to tape of the edge and make sure it is pressed down well so there is little bleeding.
Paint your chalkboard paint.
Paint one coat vertical and let dry. Then paint the second coat the horizontal.
Follow the dry time instructions on your paint bottle. Mine said to dry for 24 hrs. before use.
Peel off the paint and touch up any areas that may have bled.
Before use, take a piece of chalk and “Prime” the board by coloring the entire board with chalk and erasing.
And that’s it!
So easy right?!
I used chalk markers on my board to make it very clear and easy to read but regular chalk works just as well!
