I always wondered if you could use scrapbook paper instead of fabric. Come to find out you can! I first saw this back in October at The Speckled Dog.
I decided for Christmas, these would be perfect to make ornaments.
I pulled out all my scrapbook papers and figured it all out.
Here’s the how-to:
Supplies:
– Bowl with water in it
-Scrapbook paper
-Embroidery hoops
-Cricut (optional)
First, trace the embroidery hoops.
You can also cut out large circle on your cricut if you have one. I ended up doing that for the next two I made.
I then decided to use my Cricut to cut out some designs for the ornament.
First one, I cut out a snowflake.
Glue on the snowflake and let dry.
Once the glue is dry, place the circle in the water.
I found that with cardstock, you have to keep it in the water longer then a thinner sheet of paper.
Once the paper is relaxed, take it out and pat off the excess water.
Place the paper on the inner hoop and then slip the outer hoop on just like you would if using fabric. Let dry.
One it was dry, I put white/silver stickles on the snowflake.
I also made one that said Joy. Same process… glue on letters then place in water.
This one is a little wrinkled because I left it in the water too long. Thinner paper- leave in for a few seconds only.
And another one just using a sheet of scrapbook paper.
I then tied some silver ric-rac onto the screw section to hang them.
I hung them using small Command hooks.
They look so cute over our VERY messy bench! lol
Aren’t those so cute? They are super simple and fast too!
