Hello everyone! I hope that everyone is doing well and that you are ready for a whole new Watercolor Wednesday painting.
This week I will be teaching you how to create this sweet, mini Flower Cart painting.
This painting will take you about ten minutes to complete so perfect to do when you don’t have a lot of time but are in the mood to be creative.
I only used one stamp set for this painting. If you don’t have this one, as it was an exclusive buy this year, then you can you any cart or wagon you may have and those little flowers are in a few different sets.
I used colors that I use often but feel free to use any colors you would like.
- No 17 Steel Blue
- No 20 Magenta
- No 45 Sepia
- No 15 Olive Green
- No 86 African Violet
As I previously stated, this is a small mini painting. It is only on a 2.5 x 3.5 piece of paper.
Begin by inking the cart with African Violet followed by Sepia.
Press the stamp on the right hand side, center.
Drag the colors out the lines and pretty much paint the wagon at the same time. Paint the body with a mix of sepia and African Violet adding darker areas for shadows.
Use post-it tape or a post-it note and mask off the cart.
Ink the flower stamp with magenta for the blooms and olive green for the stems.
Press the flower stamp in a straight line below the cart. Stamp it four or five times before reapplying the ink.
Remove the tape and add flowers into the cart and then add a second row of flowers.
Dip your brush in water and pinch it off and soften the blooms and stems.
Use sepia to create a dirt path between the flower rows and then below the bottom row of flowers. Use steel blue to paint the sky.
Lastly, use the thin side of the African Violet and go over some areas of the cart to add more shadows and add a few lines on the cart panels for a wood grain effect.
And that’s it!!
Pop it into a frame and put on a shelf or give away as a gift.
Be sure to watch the video tutorial below to paint along with me each step of the way.
