Hello to all of you A Glimpse Inside readers! I’m Tam from Sew Dang Cute Crafts.
My site is full of tutorials and projects
that are mostly DIY and sewing, but I do venture out in other areas – like paper crafting.
I’m thrilled to be here today guest posting for Allison while she’s moving cross country and getting her new home set up.
Today I wanted to share with you my Jaded Rope Lamp.
This is such a fun way to spice up an old lamp. I found this one at my local thrift store for $3.I bought some sisal rope at Lowes. You can get it by the foot, but I just bought a 100 ft. roll so I wouldn’t have to worry about running out. It was about $8.
Starting at the base of the lamp, begin to hot glue the rope to the lamp.
Continue up and around, placing each layer tightly on top of the next, and only gluing a couple of inches at a time.
Once you get to the top, cut off the extra rope, then hot glue the end of the rope to the lamp to seal any fraying pieces.
At this point, you do have a finished rope lamp, which I think is super cute.
But I wanted to add just a little more “pop”, so I spraypainted it with Krylon Jade.
Top it off with a lampshade (got mine at Target), and there you have it!
I also think it would be a lot of fun to stencil the lampshade. I can almost picture this one with some trellis design, but for now I’m liking the simple white.
I hope you’ll all come visit me over at Sew Dang Cute Crafts and see what other great projects I’ve got going on!
Thanks for having me Allison!!!
That looks awesome Tam! Thanks for sharing!
