Happy Veteran’s Day!
Thanks to all of the past, current, and future service members for doing what you do and keeping us all safe on the homefront.
Both of my grandfathers were service members during WWII, one of my uncles fought in Vietnam, one brother-in-law is in the Air Force, and my other brother-in-law just got out of the Marines, and of course Travis is in the Army so I am very thankful for all these men and what they have done.
But I want to take a moment to write Travis a little something.
Travis, I am so proud of you.
I’m so proud to say that I am a wife of a soldier even though it isn’t always a walk in the park.
I know that you don’t really like the attention when someone thanks you for your service because as you say “I am just doing my job.” but it is always nice to get the recognition that you deserve.
I am so thankful that you do what you do and you love doing it.
You spent 15 months in Iraq. You had to leave in a matter of days and join a unit where you knew no one but you thrived. It was hard to be away from you for so long but I am so thankful that you made a difference and you came home to me.
You went to Haiti just days after the massive earthquake to help that country try to rebuild itself. You were one of the first service members there and paved the way for everyone else to come. You only spent 3 months there but I know you made a difference in many peoples lives.
You always want to better yourself as a soldier and think of other ways to better your fellow soldiers. I know I may sit quietly or sometimes roll my eyes at some of the ideas you come up with for your future military career but I really do appreciate your energy, aspirations, and creativity of thinking outside the box in order to be successful.
I love you and am so happy to be the one that you get to come home to everyday and after those times apart.
Forever and Always!
