I hope you all had a nice long weekend.
Our long weekend has been extended another day due to freezing rain and ice. YUCK!
I had a quick craft session over the weekend, in between house projects, and I thought that since I plan on setting up a Valentine’s Day mantle this week, I would make something that could go on it.
This project also made me realize how horrible the light is in this house in the winter with constant gray skies outside and that I need to invest into a good lighting kit. But anyways… enough about that, let’s see the project.
This is a super fast and easy sign that can be completed in about 10 to 15 minutes. Yep, that quick!!
Here’s all you need to do it:
-Wood board or something similar (I found this in the dollar spot at Target.)
-Stencil (Botanique Branch with Birds image)
I chose to paint the design onto the wood because I liked the idea of it being a little imperfect and not solid. You could just cut and apply vinyl if you’d like as well.
I cut the design out onto card stock and then sprayed the back with spray adhesive. I let the paper sit for just a few minutes so it wasn’t really tacky, just enough to hold down as a stencil then peel it back off. Rub down all edges well with your finger.
Using a stencil brush, pounce the paint into the stencil.
Paint until the whole stencil is covered.
Carefully peel back the stencil when you are done.
I painted the birds white and the little heart a super faint pink because I really didn’t want it to stand out too much from the birds but I did want it to be slightly different.
And that’s it!
All you have to do is prop it up now and enjoy!
So fast, so easy, and the perfect little touch for Valentine’s day but could easily stay up a little longer or all the time.
Have a great week!
