Million Dollar Brownies

Hi friends! It’s Rachel from Adventures of a DIY Mom.
Today I’m sharing one of my all-time favorite desserts: Million Dollar Brownies! What exactly are million dollar brownies? They are decadent fudgy brownies filled with chocolate, crunchy nuts, and a creamy caramel filling.  YUM!

Million Dollar Brownies

Million Dollar Brownies are a recipe that I remember my aunt making as a kid. We got the recipe from her and made them occasionally. It was always a special treat, since we didn’t get them very often.

With most desserts, I love to eat them warm. However, these are definitely better when left to cool completely before eating. It’s so hard to wait…

This recipe is really easy! The hardest part: unwrapping the caramels. But that’s what kids are for – they love to help.

Million Dollar Brownies Recipe:

Caramel Filling
1 {14oz} package of caramels – or about 50
1/3  c. evaporated milk
Unwrap all the caramels. Place in a microwave safe bowl and pour evaporated milk on top. Microwave until melted, stirring after each minute. Depending on your microwave this could take 3-5 minutes.

1 German Chocolate cake mix
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. evaporated milk
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 c. chocolate chips

Mix all ingredients except for chocolate chips together. Batter will be quite thick. Press 1/2 of the mixture into a 81/2 X 11 pan. Bake at 350 for 8-9 minutes. Sprinkle on chocolate chips and pour on the caramel. Then place the rest of your brownie mixture on top. I find that the easiest way to do this is to take pieces of the batter, press it flat with my fingers and set it on top. It’s ok if you have places where the caramel doesn’t get completely covered. Bake an additional 15 minutes at 350. Let cool completely before eating.
