Mod Podge Wooden Owl

Holy cow!
With all the craziness of the holidays and Christmas coming, I totally forgot that I never finished sharing ideas that I created for Miss S’ first birthday party! Oops!
So I am here today with another little project I created for her party.
To make your own you’ll need.
-Wooden Owl (bought at Hobby Lobby)
-Acrylic Paint
-Scrapbook Paper
-Mod Podge
-Wood Glue

This is how the owl looks when you buy it. All the pieces are attached to the body of the owl.
You will need to pull the eyes, wings, and then the belly portions off the main owl body.
Give everything a coat of paint. I used white so my papers stood out.
Trace the wings and body on scrapbook paper and cut out.
Using Mod Podge, glue the paper onto the correct body part.
If the paper sticks out over the edge of the wood shape, take a file and just file it off the edges.
Then use wood glue to glue the pieces back onto the main body.
I painted the eyes white and added a bright yellow ring on the outside for a little extra pop of color.
Then used black paint for the pupils.
Use the wood glue once again to glue the eyes onto the body.
I wanted my owl to have a little beak so I just took a scrap piece of scrapbook paper I had on hand and cut out a little beak and glued it down.
And that’s it!!
You could always add another paper pattern on the belly region for a little something extra.
For the party, I just propped it up in the tree that was in my parents living room like it was peaking out over the party.
I think it turned out super cute!
