“Outnumbered (Girl Dad)” Vinyl T-shirt
I frequently see those “outnumbered” t-shirts but they are always for moms of boys, well what about dads of girls?
I thought it would be fun to to get this for Travis for Father’s Day and I just decided I would try to make my own version instead of buying it. And that’s exactly what I did.
I love heat transfer vinyl, it is so easy to use and you can make so much with it.
Here is how I made his shirt.
I started out in my Silhouette software, you can use a Cricut as well, and typed out what I wanted on the shirt and then played with fonts.
Once I was happy with the font styles and layout, I flipped the words backwards. This is key when using words and HTV otherwise your words will be backwards when you go to apply them to your shirt.
Cut out the vinyl and you are ready to apply.
When you apply your vinyl, you just need your shirt, vinyl, iron, and ironing board.
I used vinyl from Expressions Vinyl and it has a plastic liner on the vinyl so when you cut it, the plastic stays and acts like transfer paper when you are ready to apply.
Remove all the excess vinyl and keep your words.
Center your design on your shirt or place you design where ever you would like it.
Then iron down your design.
Hold the iron on the design making sure the whole design get ironed.
You can double check to make sure it is all iron down by carefully lifting the plastic and if something is not down, just go back over it.
Let the plastic cool for a few seconds then peel off leaving your final product.
That’s it! I know I posted this after Father’s Day (I didn’t want Travis to see it) but this would make a great gift for birthdays or any time as well!
Most of the shirts I saw online had a hashtag on it somewhere and well, Travis isn’t the hashtag type of guy, so I left it off but you can easily add it onto yours.
We gave the shirt to Travis as his Father’s day gift and he loved it.
He definitely is outnumbered in our house but I think he loves it! 🙂
