I wanted to make it right away so I showed Travis and off to Lowe’s we went.
(Sorry, I don’t have the steps in pics of Travis putting this together for me. But you can find them at Shanty 2 Chic and it is so easy!)
Supplies:
– Buy a 2x8x8 board at Lowe’s or Home Depot
-Small Finials (bought in the furniture leg aisle at Lowes)
-Mini clothes pins (Michael’s)
-Paint
-Fabric of your choice
How To:
-Cut the wood into 11″ pieces
-Travis routered the edges but that is optional
-Drill small hole and screw in finial
-glue mini clothes pin
-Paint color of your choice
Here is mine painted green.
I just used some spray paint that I currently had.
(So happy it warmed back up so I could finish this project since it has been sitting for a few months now.)
Upclose shot of the finial and the clothes pin.
I created a fabric rosette out of burlap and added it to one of the corners.
I also sanded and then used some ink to distress the edges.
Add some ink to the clothes pin as well.
I love how it turned out.
It can just sit on any surface and it is so easy to switch out pictures.
I have another version of this in the works too.
As soon as that one is complete, I will share it with you.
I’ll be linking up to some of these parties.

March 3, 2011 at 2:27 pmAugh! I so want to try this, too! I saw it on Shanty and had to have it! My Lowe's is about 500 miles away, though (ok, not that far, but it feels really far), and no one else seems to have those finials! What?? I love your color scheme and can't wait to see what else you came up with!
