I bought a magazine that was full of Christmas Decorating ideas, can’t remember the name of it at this time, but I saw this snowflake in it and knew that I wanted to make it.
I had the perfect place in mind for it so I went out and got the supplies I needed and got to work.
How to:
Supplies:
-6 Paint stir sticks (I had 3 but then just went to Lowes to get the rest)
-Popsicle sticks (large tongue depressor size and regular size)
-Skinny sticks (They are thin square shaped wooden sticks)
-Wooden shapes (I choose circles but in the magazine they used squares and triangles
-Glue gun
-Paint or spray paint
-Glitter (optional)
I had two different size paint stir sticks. So I begin by gluing two sticks together at the end.
If all of your sticks are the same length, then glue your sticks together by overlapping one stick on the other.
I place a small round disc on the back and glued them down for extra support.
To make the rest of the sticks the same length, I placed the next two sticks on my first group. I marked where the one stick overlapped on the other. Then glued the two together.
(This is how you will glue all of your sticks if they are all the same length.)
Side view of the two glued together.
You should have three of these total.
Next, stack the arms on top of each other in the center. Try to get the distance between each stick the same. Glue together.
Next, take the large popsicle sticks or tongue depressors and repeat the process in the center of the snowflake. Top with small wooden circle.
At the end of each arm, glue two smaller popsicle sticks near the end. Place as many on each arm as you like. I did four on each.
Use the small sticks to place on the end of the tongue depressors.
I added the wooden circles where the popsicle sticks met.
Then I spray primed and painted it white. You could also just paint it white.
I decided to add glitter to it.
I was going to use Spray glitter but my can messed up so I just used good old Martha Stewart glitter in silver and white.
I attached a white ribbon to one of the arms to hang it to a Command hook.
I hung it on the mirror where my coffee filter wreath used to hang.
I love how it looks! Perfect for Christmas and the winter!
You could easily make smaller ones too with just the popsicle sticks!
If you have any questions about this feel free to ask.
Also, if you make one, Please link back to me and I would love to see it!
Also, the Holiday Open House party is still going on so if you haven’t go link up your Christmas living room decor.
